Jacob deGrom in Historic Company
6 years agoNew York Mets right-hander Jacob deGrom continues to bolster his case for the Cy Young Award in the National League. Following his masterful complete game win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday, deGrom became just the fourth pitcher in NL history to record 200 strikeouts in a season and post a sub-2.00 ERA through 25 starts. DeGrom lowered his ERA to an insane 1.71 with the victory on Saturday and improved his record to 8-7. As long as deGrom continues to shut down opponents, it will be hard not to strongly consider the ace for the Cy Young Award, even on a losing team like the Mets.
