Jacob Amaya Tearing It Up At Triple-A
2 years agoMiami Marlins shortstop prospect Jacob Amaya, who was acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers in the trade that sent Miguel Rojas to LA, has been making a case for his first big-league call-up. In 36 games so far for Triple-A Jacksonville, Amaya is slashing .265/.333/.397 with seven doubles, a triple, three home runs, 14 RBI and 20 runs scored in 153 plate appearances. But he's really picked things up in May, hitting .362 with four doubles, a triple and a home run in his 52 plate appearances. The 24-year-old's glove is certainly ahead of his bat, but he could become the Marlins' starting shortstop before the year is up, especially if the oft-injured Joey Wendle continues to struggle at the plate.
