Jackie Bradley Will Not Be Demoted When Dustin Pedroia Returns
7 years agoBoston Red Sox outfielder Jackie Bradley has had his fair share of struggles at the plate so far this season. The 28-year-old is carrying a mediocre .178 average over 154 plate appearances. Thankfully for him, Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Bradley will not be heading to the minors when second baseman Dustin Pedroia returns on Friday. Likewise, Cora also stated infielder Eduardo Nunez, who is dealing with a minor knee injury, will not be put on the disabled list to accommodate Pedroia. Nunez has also had an inefficient start to the season with a .243 average and just 12 RBI. The general consensus is that Blake Swihart will either be traded or sent down in order to activate Pedroia. In terms of fantasy implications, Pedroia is probably the player to own. While they will ease him back into the lineup at first, he is the most likely to have an everyday role. The veteran slashed .293/.369/.392 last season and drove in 62 runs. He will get plenty of opportunities to put up counting stats in a deep Red Sox lineup.
