7 years agoBoston Red Sox outfielder Jackie Bradley avoided salary arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $6.1 million deal, according to a source. Bradley remains one of the best defensive center fielders in the game, but his bat took a step back in 2017, mainly in the power department. His inconsistencies at the plate have led Boston to consider dealing him this offseason, and if he goes into a prolonged slump in 2018, the BoSox have other options that could make Bradley a platoon player.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

1 year agoFree-agent outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr., who was one of the better defensive center fielders of his era, is expected to retire this offseason. Bradley played in 43 games for the Kansas City Royals in 2023 before being waived in June. In his 113 plate appearances, he went just 14-for-105 (.133) with a home run, five doubles, six RBI and 10 runs scored. The 33-year-old was an All-Star back in 2016 with the Boston Red Sox, when he slashed .267/.349/.486 with an .835 OPS, a career-high 26 home runs, 87 RBI and nine stolen bases in 156 games. Bradley won a Gold Glove in 2018 and will finish his 11 year big-league career with a .225 career batting average, 109 home runs, 449 RBI, 69 stolen bases and 514 runs scored in 1,181 career games with Boston, Kansas City, Toronto and Milwaukee if he indeed hangs up his cleats.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

2 years agoThe Kansas City Royals signed free-agent outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. to a minor-league deal on Wednesday that includes an invitation to major-league spring training. Bradley will be hoping to impress enough in spring training to win a spot on the Royals' Opening Day roster. He has fallen off a cliff offensively the last two seasons and hit a combined .203/.255/.311 with a .566 OPS, four home runs, 38 RBI, 30 runs scored and 77 strikeouts in 370 plate appearances over 131 games with the Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays in 2022. At this point in his career, the 32-year-old Bradley will provide the Royals with depth in the outfield, but he's off the fantasy radar and isn't guaranteed to begin the year in the big leagues.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

3 years agoThe Toronto Blue Jays signed free-agent outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. to an undisclosed major league deal on Tuesday, according to a source. Bradley was released by the Boston Red Sox last week after hitting just .210/.257/.321 with three home runs, 29 RBI, 21 runs scored and two stolen bases in 290 plate appearances over 91 games played. The Blue Jays could use some outfield depth with George Springer (elbow) on the injured list, especially since the left-handed hitting Bradley Springer hasn't done much at the plate in 2022. The 32-year-old can still be an asset on defense, but he has really struggled offensively the last two seasons. At best, JBJ will see at-bats against right-handers in center field until Springer returns from the IL.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

3 years agoThe Boston Red Sox designated outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. for assignment on Thursday. The writing was on the wall for Bradley, who is hitting just .210/.257/.321 with three home runs, 29 RBI, 21 runs scored and two stolen bases in 271 at-bats this year, when the Red Sox traded for outfielder Tommy Pham at the deadline on Tuesday. If the 32-year-old isn't scooped up off waivers by another team, he'll return to the organization and head to the minor leagues at Triple-A Worcester. He's still useful for his glove work in the outfield, but Bradley's bat has been useless to the Red Sox and fantasy managers in 2022.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
