Jack Flaherty Tosses Perfect Inning In Spring Debut
9 months agoDetroit Tigers pitcher Jack Flaherty worked a perfect inning in his spring debut with the team on Monday versus the Houston Astros. The veteran was brought into Detroit on a one-year, $14 million deal this offseason after he struggled between the Cardinals and Orioles in the 2023 campaign. The 28-year-old posted a 4.99 ERA across 29 outings (27 starts) but struggled mightily following a trade-deadline deal to the O's where he posted a 6.75 ERA in 34 2/3 innings of work. However, the 2023 season was also his healthiest full campaign since 2019, and he will get a shot at taking the ball every fifth day with the Tigers in 2024. He could be a solid late-round sleeper as he posted a 3.22 ERA as recently as the 2021 season and is coming off his first healthy offseason in some time.
