Jack Flaherty Leaves Early Tuesday With Back Tightness
6 months agoDetroit Tigers right-hander Jack Flaherty (back) was removed from his start early in Texas against the Rangers on Tuesday due to back tightness, according to manager A.J. Hinch. The skipper said he doesn't yet know the severity of the injury, so Flaherty is in danger of missing his next start and landing on the 15-day injured list. Losing Flaherty for any amount of time would be a big blow for the Tigers and fantasy managers. The 28-year-old former St. Louis Cardinals pitcher is having a resurgent year in Motown and came into Tuesday's start with a 3.46 ERA, a 1.00 WHIP and a healthy 90 strikeouts in 67 2/3 innings over 11 starts. Before leaving with back tightness, Flaherty threw five shutout innings with no walks and four strikeouts to pick up his third win of the year and lower his ERA to 3.22. Check back for an update on Flaherty's status and the severity of his back injury on Wednesday.
