Jack Brannigan Builds On-Base Streak To 18 Games
4 months agoPittsburgh Pirates infielder Jack Brannigan has blossomed into one of the club's better prospects ever since being selected in the third round of the 2022 MLB Draft. Capable of playing either spot on the left side of the infield, Brannigan's glovework is average, but he has great range and athleticism, and his arm strength is teetering on the "elite" level. At the plate, Brannigan is capable of mashing baseballs, though he's shown glimpses of struggling to hit high-velocity pitches. Once a contact hitter, Brannigan may become more of a power-oriented bat as he climbs through the levels of affiliated ball. This past week, Brannigan extended his on-base streak to a whopping 18 games. He ultimately went 8-for-23 with four homers and eight RBI. His walk-to-strikeout ratio continued to falter, though, as he drew just two free passes while striking out eight times. He also swiped one bag along the way.
