J.T. Realmuto Confident He'll Be Ready
7 years agoMiami Marlins catcher J.T. Realmuto (back) is confident he'll be ready for Opening Day despite missing a week with a bruised lower back in camp. He played catch Monday for the first time since suffering the injury on March 11 and is hoping to swing a bat in the next couple of days. "I'll be ready for Opening Day," Realmuto said on Monday morning. "I'm very confident, yes." The Marlins were mainly being cautious with one of their best remaining offensive players after they dealt away Giancarlo Stanton, Marcell Ozuna, Christian Yelich and Dee Gordon in the offseason. Realmuto should be looked at as a top-five fantasy catcher after he hit .278/.332/.451 with 17 long balls and 65 RBI in 2017. He also chipped in eight steals.
