J.P. Crawford May Start In Minors
6 years agoThe Seattle Mariners don't want to rush shortstop J.P. Crawford at the start of next season after they recently acquired him from the Phillies. The Mariners are seeking a veteran shortstop on the free-agent market that would allow Crawford more time to develop in the minors to start next season. Alcides Escobar is a potential option as a good defender. Crawford has hit just .214/.333/.358 with three home runs and 18 RBI in his first 187 at-bats at the big league level in his first two years, so minor league seasoning may be what he needs. He won't be high on anyone's list in mixed leagues in drafts next spring.
