J.J. Redick To Join New Orleans Pelicans
5 years agoFree agent shooting guard J.J. Redick has agreed to a deal with the New Orleans Pelicans, ending the sharp shooter’s Philadelphia tenure. In theory, Redick provides the Pelicans with a great spot up shooting option who can help a young team take a step forward, but Redick shot below 40 percent on threes for the first time since the 2013-2014 season last year. He still hit 39.7 percent of those attempts, but it’s possible Redick is nearing the point in his career where he spots being as effective. Even with that issue, though, he’s better than Josh Hart and will likely be the first man off the Sixers bench — or start at the two if the team moves Jrue Holiday back to point guard or trades Holiday. Redick will get plenty of chances to prove that he’s still an elite shooter and should provide solid fantasy value.
