J.D. McKissic Will Miss Saturday’s Contest
3 years agoWashington Commanders running back J.D. McKissic (groin) will be sidelined for Saturday's Week 2 of the preseason outing vs. Kansas City due to groin tightness. Washington has little reason to push the 29-year-old, who has emerged as a unique offensive weapon over the past two seasons. McKissic's absence -- combined with the likelihood that Antonio Gibson will not be significantly pushed -- paves the way for Jaret Patterson, Jonathan Williams and Brian Robinson to take on elevated roles against the Chiefs. McKissic was limited to 11 games last year, yet still managed to produce over 600 yards from scrimmage, adding two rushing and two receiving scores. The veteran's fantasy viability is largely dictated by PPR scoring due to his high volume pass-catching ability. His final chance to suit up during the preseason comes next Saturday vs. Baltimore.

J.D. McKissic Done For The Season
2 years agoWashington Commanders running back J.D. McKissic (neck) has landed on the injured reserve list and won't play again this season. The 29-year-old had four touchdowns in 2021-22. However, he hasn't had any through eight games this season. McKissic will undergo rehab over the next couple of months, although it's uncertain if he'll be ready to go for the start of the 2023-24 campaign. In the meantime, Antonio Gibson, the No. 2 option on the depth chart, could see a few additional targets out of the backfield moving ahead, while Brian Robinson should handle most of the touches on the rushing end.

J.D. McKissic Won't Play Against Texans
2 years agoWashington Commanders running back J.D. McKissic (neck) has been ruled out for the Week 11 matchup against the Houston Texans. It appears the 29-year-old will miss his third straight game due to a neck issue. His absence will mean more reps for Antonio Gibson and Brian Robinson in the backfield. Both players split up the workload, so it's tough to pick between the two. However, Robinson normally gets the early down work, while Gibson fills in as the third-down back. They will both have low-end RB2 value for this upcoming matchup against Houston.

J.D. McKissic Absent Again Thursday
2 years agoWashington Commanders running back J.D. McKissic (neck) was not seen at practice for the second straight day this week on Thursday. McKissic hasn't seen the practice field since injuring his neck in Week 8, and he seems likely to miss a third straight game this weekend against the Houston Texans, barring a miraculous recovery in the next couple of days. With McKissic injured, both rookie Brian Robinson and Antonio Gibson have been successful sharing Washington's backfield. Both running backs found the end zone in the Week 10 over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night. Robinson will continue to carry the load on early downs, with Gibson working as the third-down back. Both RBs qualify as low-end RB2 options for fantasy managers against Houston this weekend.

J.D. McKissic Unable To Practice Wednesday
2 years agoWashington Commanders running back J.D. McKissic (neck) missed another practice on Wednesday. McKissic has missed the last two games and hasn't practiced at all either, so he's trending toward missing another contest in Week 11 against the Houston Texans. The Commanders have said that they will play it safe with the 29-year-old's neck injury. If he misses another game this weekend, both rookie Brian Robinson and Antonio Gibson are worth using in starting fantasy lineups. In Monday night's win over the Philadelphia Eagles, Robinson had 26 carries for 86 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Meanwhile, Gibson carried 14 times for 44 yards and a score and added three catches for another 14 yards.
