J.D. Davis Picks Up Three Hits On Monday
3 years agoNew York Mets third baseman J.D. Davis went 3-for-4 with a run scored in the Mets latest loss, a 7-5 defeat at the hands of the San Francisco Giants on Monday. You wouldn't know it given the state of the Mets putrid inability to score runs, but Davis is red hot at the plate over his last seven games. He is hitting .409/.481/.545 with three RBI over his last seven games (22 at-bats). Despite this recent hot streak, Davis hasn't homered since July 17, when he hit two home runs in one game against the Pittsburgh Pirates on the road. While Davis offers solid offensive upside and he is hot right now, a recent lack of power dating back to early July and somewhat inconsistent playing time for a struggling offensive team makes him unstartable in shallow formats. Davis should really only be active in the deepest of mixed league and N.L.-only formats at this point.
