J.D. Davis Not In Mets Lineup On Monday
4 years agoNew York Mets third baseman/outfielder J.D. Davis (hip) is not in the Mets lineup on Monday for their matinee contest against the Marlins. Davis left the second game of a doubleheader against the Yankees on Sunday due to a left hip issue resulting from his being hit by an Aroldis Chapman fastball on Saturday. It does not appear the injury is serious (despite Davis' off-day on Monday) and he should be fine going forward. On the season, Davis is batting .266 with four home runs and 12 RBI in 109 at-bats. He has somewhat cooled off after a hot start to the season. Davis broke out in 2019 in which he hit .307 with 22 home runs, scored 65 runs, and drove in 57 RBI. Despite recent struggles, the Mets do attempt to keep Davis' bat in the lineup, primarily at third base, despite the depth of the Mets infield which includes Davis, Jeff McNeil, Robinson Cano, Luis Guillorme, Amed Rosario, and Andres Gimenez. Managers in weekly lineup leagues should be mindful that Davis may sit a game or two in any given week. Managers with shares of Davis in daily lineup leagues (as well as DFS players) should remain diligent in checking posted lineups prior to game time each day.
