3 years agoNew York Mets third baseman J.D. Davis went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, four RBI, and a walk in the Mets 7-2 win over the Dodgers on Sunday. The home run was Davis' fifth of the season and his first since July 17 when he hit two home runs in a game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Much like the majority of the Mets lineup, Davis has had a rough campaign in 2021, though he is heating up at the plate. Over his last seven games, Davis is batting .333/.367/.481 with one home run, six RBI, three runs scored, and one stolen base in 27 at-bats. Additionally, he is hitting .300/.405/.433 over the month of August (60 at-bats). If he has been dropped in deeper formats, fantasy managers may wish to take a flyer on Davis for the stretch run in September. Notably, the impending return of shortstop Francisco Lindor (oblique) from the injured list will also not likely impact Davis' playing time. Manager Luis Rojas told reporters after Sunday's game that infielder Jeff McNeil will likely shift to left field (rather than to third base) once Lindor returns.
