J.A. Happ Has Encouraging Debut On Monday
4 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher J.A. Happ made his spring debut on Monday against the Braves. Happ pitched two scoreless innings, scattering a pair of walks and a hit to go along with a strikeout. The veteran left-hander said that he struggled a bit with his fastball command- which was evident on the two free passes he issued- but that it was good to pitch with runners on and from the stretch. Happ was right in line with his 30-35 pitch mark- but is still behind the other Twins' starters, considering Kenta Maeda tossed 53 pitches in his most recent outing. It's possible that the veteran could be ready to make a start come April but that the team could go with a six-man rotation for a turn, giving Randy Dobnak or Lewis Thorpe a chance at a start.
