4 years agoPhiladelphia Flyers defenseman Ivan Provorov registered a goal and added a pair of assists as his team secured a 5-2 win over the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday. The 24-year-old, who had been held relatively quiet through his first six games (one goal, one assist) was very noticeable in this one - also contributing two shots and two blocks while leading all skaters with 27:43 of ice time. Provorov's performance only further solidifies how valuable he is in all fantasy formats and he should be inserted back into starting lineups ahead of his next tilt versus the Devils on Thursday.--Chase Davis - RotoBaller

2 years agoThe Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired defenseman Ivan Provorov from the Philadelphia Flyers in a three-way trade with the Los Angeles Kings. The deal included defenseman Kevin Connauton moving from Philadelphia to L.A., while Kings defenseman Sean Walker and goaltender Calvin Petersen joined the Flyers. A couple of minor league players and a few draft picks were also involved in the trade, with Philadelphia landing Columbus' 2023 first-round pick and a couple of second-rounders. Provorov, the seventh pick of the 2015 draft, is the biggest piece of the trade, with the Russian blue-liner moving on from Philadelphia after spending all of his seven-year career so far with the Flyers. "He immediately improves our group on defense as he is durable, has great skill, skates well, is an excellent passer with an accurate shot and can effectively play at both ends of the ice," Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen said about Provorov.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

3 years agoPhiladelphia Flyers forward Claude Giroux and defenseman Ivan Provorov won't play on Tuesday against Anaheim because of COVID-19 protocols. The latter will miss his first career game after being ever-present since making his debut in 2016-17. The Flyers have received a huge blow at both ends of the ice, as Giroux leads the team with 29 points and Provorov has been eating up the most minutes, getting 24:25 of ice time this season. Morgan Frost could now get a chance to rejoin the top six. Cam York is expected to make his season debut in defense. The 20-year-old has skated in 21 AHL games this season, picking up eight points.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

3 years agoPhiladelphia Flyers defenseman Ivan Provorov saved his best moment for last against the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday night. Provorov converted on a play made by Kevin Hayes as he scored the game winning goal 2:14 into overtime. That gave the Philadelphia Flyers a 3-2 win. This was Provorov's only shot of the game. He did have three blocked shots, a hit, and a takeaway as well. While the defenseman has just three points on the man advantage, he does have four points in his last four games. Provorov is showing signs of life for fantasy owners and more of the form from two years ago where he netted 13 goals and 36 points in 69 games.--Chris Wassel - RotoBaller
