Diaz initially opted out of the 2020 season after two games amidst COVID-19 concerns, but recently changed his mind. The 24-year-old was expected to be a key contributor in the Marlins' lineup and showed promise as a prospect in Triple-A, but he owns a .176 average in 188 at-bats at the MLB level.
