Isaac Paredes Traded To The Cubs
4 months agoTampa Bay Rays third baseman Isaac Paredes has been traded to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for Christopher Morel and two unnamed prospects. The Cubs are surprisingly buyers at the deadline, sitting six games out of the wild card as they acquired relief pitcher Nate Pearson from Toronto earlier this weekend and now significantly upgraded their third base production with Paredes. Paredes has posted a solid .246/.354/.436 line with 16 home runs this season and a stellar 12.0% walk rate. Morel has had a disappointing season, hitting for a mere .199/.302/.374 slash line with 18 home runs. The Rays have been stockpiling prospects all weekend after moving Randy Arozarena and Jason Adam and are quickly building one of the best systems in baseball. UPDATE: The Cubs also sent right-handers Hunter Bigge (Cubs' No. 29 prospect) and Ty Johnson to the Rays in the trade.
