Is William Byron Mispriced On DraftKings For This Weekend’s Race At Martinsville?
8 months agoWilliam Byron, fresh off a seventh-place finish at Richmond Raceway, will start 18th in Sunday's Cook Out 400 at Martinsville Speedway. Byron, who is in his seventh season in the Cup Series, is off to a hot start in 2024. Not only does he have two wins and four top-10 finishes, but he currently sits as the betting favorite to win the Cup Series at +500 on FanDuel Sportsbook. While his efforts over the last two seasons make him impossible to ignore in any given week, his performances at Martinsville in particular make him a driver to target in DFS this weekend. In 12 Cup starts, Byron has one win, four top-five finishes, and six top-10s. Likewise, over the last four races at this track, he is averaging 58.13 DraftKings points, the fourth most in the series. Given the hot start he is off to in 2024 and that he has had success at Martinsville throughout his career, it could be argued that he is underpriced on DraftKings for this weekend's race. With a salary of $9,800, which is a $700 discount from where it was last weekend at Richmond (a similar short track to Martinsville), Byron would just have to finish sixth to hit value, which he is certainly capable of doing. Although we would not go as far as to call the No. 24 a core play in DFS this weekend, he is a driver you will want exposure to, especially considering this may be the last time you get him for less than $10,000 this season.
