Is Martin Truex Jr. One Of The Top Favorites At Martinsville?
8 months agoThe current Cup Series points leader, Martin Truex Jr., will start this week's Cook Out 400 from the fourth position. This is his highest start position of the season yet for Truex at one of his most successful tracks in Cup history. In 36 starts at Martinsville, Truex has three wins and 16 top-10 finishes, including three top-5 finishes in the last six Cup events there. After seven races so far this season, Truex placed in the Top 15 in every race with four top-10 finishes. Truex also led multiple laps in all short-track races and has the best average finish of all drivers so far this year (8.1). In practice, Truex ranked 12th of all drivers in overall lap averages as one of the faster Group A drivers. Considering his past success at Martinsville and how great he is at short tracks this season so far, Truex is one of the top drivers to consider for the win.
