Is Carson Hocevar A Value Play At Charlotte?
6 months agoCarson Hocevar will start 20th in what will be his Cup Series debut on the intermediate configuration at Charlotte Motor Speedway. As was to be expected, 2024 has been a struggle for the Spire Motorsports rookie. In his 13 non-exhibition starts this season, the 21-year-old has just one top-10, is averaging 21.6 for his finish and is averaging just 22.58 in DraftKings points this season. With this said, it is important to keep in mind that his one top-10 this season did come at Texas, which is a similar intermediate track to Charlotte Motor Speedway. Likewise, it is also important to consider the fact that he did earn two top-five finishes in his three Truck starts at this track, which is impressive given how young he was in these three contests. While his success at this track in Truck and his strong showing at Texas earlier this season do help ease some of the doubt surrounding Hocevar heading into the weekend, the biggest concern before rostering him is the length of this race. Given that this will be his first experience running 600 miles in a Cup car, fatigue and inexperience will likely play a role Sunday night, factors that make the rookie nothing more than a dart throw in DFS this weekend.
