Is Alex Bowman An Underrated DFS Play At Richmond?
9 months agoHendrick Motorsports driver Alex Bowman obtained a starting position of fourth after qualifying for this week's Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond Raceway. Sunday's race will mark his highest starting position of the season and his first time in the Top 5 in 2024. In 15 starts at Richmond, Bowman did see some success with four top-10 finishes and a win in 2021. All of Bowman's top finishes were nabbed during his last seven appearances at the site. Through six races so far this year, Bowman has three top-5 finishes, including the last two races of the year at COTA and Bristol. Bowman was a part of Group A during practice, who dealt with faster track conditions compared to Group B and had the second-best overall lap average as well as the fastest 15,20, and 25-consecutive lap averages. Although his high starting position makes him a bit of a DFS risk with little place differential upside, recent momentum this season, as well as having some of the top equipment from Hendrick Motorsports, Bowman could be considered an underrated favorite to compete for the win.
