Ilya Samsonov Starts Versus Kraken Saturday
3 months agoVegas Golden Knights goaltender Ilya Samsonov will guard the crease in Saturday's matchup against Seattle. He'll make only his third appearance of the month as the Golden Knights have been riding Adin Hill's hot hand. Samsonov has also been successful in his most recent outings, winning four of five starts to improve his record for the season to 7-3-1. He has allowed 3.06 goals with a .897 save percentage. The Kraken have struggled on the road and go with Philipp Grubauer, who is 3-9-0 for the season, so Samsonov will be expected to keep Vegas on the winning path.

Ilya Samsonov Getting Monday's Start
11 months agoToronto Maple Leafs goaltender Ilya Samsonov is getting the start on Monday when the team hosts the Pittsburgh Penguins. It's the fourth start for Samsonov over the last five games as he has regained his grasp on the No. 1 starter's role from Joseph Woll with the latter largely struggling since returning from a high-ankle sprain on Feb. 29. A winner of his last four outings, Samsonov owns a 3.03 goals-against average and an .893 save percentage in 37 games on the season but is still 22-6-7. He has been far better of late, posting a 2.34 GAA and a .926 save percentage in eight March outings, going 6-1-1 in that time. The Maple Leafs sit third in the Atlantic Division with a 44-23-9 record, four points ahead of the Tampa Bay Lightning for a top-three finish in the division with a game in hand.

Ilya Samsonov Likely To Start On Saturday
12 months agoToronto Maple Leafs goaltender Ilya Samsonov is likely to start on Saturday against the visiting Edmonton Oilers. The Russian netminder made four straight starts before Joseph Woll started Wednesday's 7-3 win over the Washington Capitals. It's been a nice run for Samsonov after he was briefly sent to the minors earlier in the year as he sports a 2.58 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage across six games in the month of March, going 4-1-1 in that time. The overall numbers still don't look good after a disastrous start as the 27-year-old owns a 3.12 GAA and an .888 Sv% across 33 games, although he is still 18-6-7 thanks to a high-octane Maple Leafs offense.
