Ilya Samsonov Bounces Back With A Shutout
2 years agoToronto Maple Leafs goaltender Ilya Samsonov picked up his third shutout of the season when the team beat Columbus 3-0 on Friday. He entered the All-Star break with a poor performance in a game against Boston, where he allowed five goals on 29 shots, but getting some time off worked wonders for Samsonov's form, as he stopped all 30 shots faced against the Blue Jackets. He is now 18-6-2 for the season, having allowed 2.32 goals per game with a .917 save percentage. With Matt Murray (ankle) unavailable, Samsonov is getting a lot of burn and he's performing well for the team.
