Ilya Mikheyev Leaves Practice Early Tuesday
2 years agoVancouver Canucks forward Ilya Mikheyev (knee) took part in Canucks practice on Tuesday but departed early and reportedly wasn't very involved in the on-ice session. The speedy winger underwent season-ending ACL surgery in January after initially suffering a partially torn ACL during a pre-season game in September of 2022. The Russian signed a four-year, $19 million contract with the Canucks prior to last season after spending three seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs. The oft-injured Mikheyev tallied 13 goals and 28 points across 46 games in his first season with Vancouver but he will certainly endure another injury-shortened season in 2023-24, making him a risky fantasy investment on draft day.

Ilya Mikheyev Dealing With Undisclosed Injury
11 months agoVancouver Canucks winger Ilya Mikheyev missed Thursday's Game 5 against Edmonton with an undisclosed injury. Initially, he was believed to be a healthy scratch for the game, but Sportsnet's Dan Murphy has reported that the Russian winger is actually "banged up." Mikheyev has had a rough time in the 2024 postseason, going scoreless with 11 shots on goal in 10 games and carrying a minus-four rating. His lack of form has also negatively impacted Elias Pettersson, who has spent a lot of time skating with Mikheyev. Pettersson was paired with Elias Lindholm and Nils Hoglander on Thursday. He notched an assist as the Canucks moved one win away from the Conference Finals with a 3-2 victory.

Ilya Mikheyev Good To Go Thursday
1 year agoVancouver Canucks winger Ilya Mikheyev (lower body) will play Thursday against the Golden Knights. He left Tuesday's 3-1 win over Anaheim with a lower-body injury, but luckily, it wasn't a serious issue for Mikheyev. The Russian forward had an assist on Tuesday and has compiled 12 points (seven goals, five assists) in 19 games in 2023-24. He missed time at the beginning of the campaign due to offseason knee surgery. Mikheyev had a strong start to the season, but he's registered only four points across his last 10 appearances.

Ilya Mikheyev Notches A Pair Of Goals Thursday
1 year agoVancouver Canucks forward Ilya Mikheyev tallied a pair of goals on Thursday as the Canucks knocked off the hosting Ottawa Senators by a 5-2 count. The speedy winger added to the club's hot start by making it a 2-0 game just three minutes into the contest before notching his second of the game 9:23 into the third period. It's been a hot start for Mikheyev who has notched five goals and eight points on 24 shots in nine contests in his return from an ACL injury suffered last season. Even with the hot start, Mikheyev is a middling fantasy asset. He doesn't shoot the puck a ton and he also doesn't skate on the Canucks' top power-play unit. However, he is certainly worth keeping an eye on as long he is skating to the left of superstar Elias Pettersson at even strength.

Ilya Mikheyev To Make Season Debut Saturday
1 year agoVancouver Canucks forward Ilya Mikheyev (knee) is set to make his season debut Saturday night for a road matchup against the Florida Panthers. The Russian speedster hasn't placed since Jan. 27 of last season as he would undergo surgery to repair a torn ACL midway through his first season with the Canucks. Mikheyev tallied 13 goals and 28 points across 46 games last season before undergoing the knife and gives the Canucks a quality middle-six winger in his return. From a fantasy perspective, the 29-year-old does not contribute enough above-average production in any particular category as he is far more valuable to the Canucks than he is to your fantasy roster.
