Igor Shesterkin Starts In Rangers Net On Sunday
4 years agoNew York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin will be the team's starter for Sunday's Battle of New York against the Islanders. He'll be tasked with repeating Alexandar Georgiev's heroics after he stopped 31 pucks in Friday's 4-1 victory over the Islanders. Shesterkin hasn't found any success in the matchup thus far, losing both of his starts this year with a 3.03 goals-against average and a .905 save percentage. His record for the season stands at 10-9-2 with a 2.44 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage. The Russian netminder recently had a good run of results, but he's lost two of his last three starts. Beating the Islanders in their barn is no joke either, with Barry Trotz's team going 17-2-2 at the Nassau Coliseum this season.
