Igor Shesterkin Picks Up Win In NHL Debut
5 years agoNew York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin posted his first career NHL victory as his team defeated the visiting Colorado Avalanche 5-3 on Tuesday. Getting rewarded for his excellent play in the AHL this season with the Hartford Wolf Pack (1.93 goals-against average, .932 save percentage in 23 games), the 24-year-old took advantage of his recent call-up and stopped 29 of 32 shots in the win. With the Rangers currently carrying three netminders in Henrik Lundqvist, Alexandar Georgiev and Shesterkin, it's not clear how long the latter will remain with the big club. With that said, the Rangers didn't bring up their future No. 1 goalie to sit on the bench, so Shesterkin could be a sneaky fantasy pickup for the short term (13% owned in Yahoo leagues).
