Ian Kennedy Is The Next Elite Reliever?
6 years agoIn a bullpen full of misery and strife, Kansas City Royals pitcher Ian Kennedy has quietly gotten off to a stellar start as a reliever. Kennedy nailed down the win against the Yankees on Thursday, and though he only has one save and one hold on the season so far, those numbers might be going up soon. Kennedy has pitched 10 2/3 innings so far, and he's sporting a ridiculous 0.84 ERA with 13 strikeouts and just two walks. His one earned run came nearly three weeks ago, and he's only allowed three hits in his last 7 2/3 innings. He's even racked up eight strikeouts in his last three appearances. Obviously, the idea that Kennedy could be turned into something useful after his last couple of seasons seems far-fetched, but he could be the dark horse to become the new Wade Davis in KC.
