Ian Desmond Triples In A Pair Of Runs
6 years agoColorado Rockies first baseman Ian Desmond smashed the first pitch he saw in the fourth inning to drive in Gerardo Parra and Trevor Story. The triple was Desmond's second of the season, and it was one of the success stories as he returns to his hyper-aggressive approach. Desmond had recently taken a more patient mindset to the plate as he was trying to pull his batting average out of the depths of the Mendoza Line, but as he's gotten hotter, he's also reverted back to his all-or-nothing swings. Desmond has recently struck out 12 times in his last six games, and while he's still hitting .250 over that stretch, a 52% strikeout rate is not a sustainable approach at the plate. Something has to give, and it will likely be his batting average unless he makes some adjustments.
