Ian Anderson Goes Seven Innings In No-Decision Thursday
3 years agoAtlanta Braves starting pitcher Ian Anderson fired seven innings of two-run ball while picking up a no-decision in a 4-3 win over the New York Mets on Thursday. The 23-year-old matched Mets ace Jacob deGrom with a seven-inning performance while giving up three hits, two walks and striking out two. Anderson was in line for the win before closer Will Smith surrendered a game-tying, ninth-inning homer to Dominic Smith. Anderson has been solid over his first 16 starts this season, posting a 5-4 record with a 3.35 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, 3.39 FIP, eight quality starts and 90 strikeouts across 88 2/3 innings. Anderson isn't an elite option, but fantasy managers could do worse for their SP3. The 2016 third overall pick will look to build on his solid performance next Tuesday in a favorable matchup in Pittsburgh versus the Pirates.
