Hyun-Jin Ryu Pitches Five Scoreless Innings In Simulated Game
4 years agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu had an excellent outing in a simulated game on Sunday. Ryu tossed five scoreless innings, striking out five while allowing three hits and a walk. The southpaw has ramped up nicely from two innings to four and now five, as he expects to go six innings in his final spring start. Ryu is the ace of the Blue Jays' staff, having pitched to a 2.69 ERA in 67 innings with a 72-17 strikeout-to-walk ratio. The 34-year-old is an appealing fantasy starter given his above-average groundball and walk rates, decent strikeout rate, and impressive five-pitch mix, which consistently keeps hitters off balance and induces weak contact. Ryu is a fine SP2 at his 67 ADP.
