Hyun Jin Ryu Headed For Surgery, Likely Done For The Year
2 years agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Hyun Jin Ryu (forearm) will be undergoing surgery on his forearm soon, according to Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins. However, the exact procedure has yet to be determined. Shi Davidi of Sportsnet reports that Tommy John surgery is on the table, but that Ryu could alternatively undergo a partial repair of his forearm. Davidi also clarified that the expectation is that Ryu will be out for at least the rest of the year, and potentially longer. If this estimation indeed comes true, then Ryu's 2022 campaign comes to an end after just six starts. He went 2-0 over those six starts with a 5.67 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP.
