Hunter Renfroe Nearing Rehab Assignment
7 years agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Hunter Renfroe (elbow) started extended-spring games on Thursday and should begin a rehab assignment soon. Renfroe hasn't played since April 17 with right elbow inflammation. Prior to the injury, he was in a platoon role slashing only .200/.281/.440 with two home runs in 57 plate appearances. Outfielder Franchy Cordero (.849 OPS) has emerged in his absence. Once Wil Myers (oblique) returns, the Padres will have a crowded outfield situation. The team will likely take it slow with Renfroe's rehabilitation.
