Hunter Dozier Concludes A Nice Spring
6 years agoKansas City Royals third baseman Hunter Dozier is going to get his crack at being the starting third baseman for an entire year in 2019, and hopefully he can carry over some of what he showed in the spring. Getting his first taste of regular time in 2018, the former first-rounder was a disappointment. He didn't for much power, he hit more ground balls than fly balls, he batted under .230, and he struck out nearly 30% of the time. This spring, he's cut the strikeouts, upped the walks, knocked four homers in just 47 at-bats, and posted an OPS over 1.000. Unfortunately, spring training doesn't count for real games, so it's unlikely that many of the trends will make their way into the regular season. That said, even if he can only bring over half the improvement, he could become a valuable fantasy asset.
