Howie Kendrick Could Be A Potential Fit For The Mets
7 years agoFree-agent infielder/outfielder Howie Kendrick could be a potential fit for the New York Mets, according to Mike Puma of the New York Post. Puma also notes that the team could look at Kendrick as a clubhouse leader and also as their second baseman. Kendrick played all over the diamond last year between the Nationals and Phillies, which also adds to his value. Puma mentions that the Mets are more likely to add a second baseman than any other position at this point and after gaining no traction in trade talks for Pirates second baseman Josh Harrison and Indians second baseman Jason Kipnis, Kendrick may be the logical fit. There have been rumblings lately of the Mets preferring to sign a free agent versus trading prospects to acquire a bat. Kendrick would be a nice pickup for the Mets should he land there, and infielder Wilmer Flores would likely shift to a utility role.
