Hirokazu Sawamura Throws Scoreless Inning in Debut
4 years agoBoston Red Sox reliever Hirokazu Sawamura was solid in his major league debut, throwing a scoreless ninth inning in Friday's 3-0 loss to the Orioles. After struggling with his control throughout the spring, Sawamura threw 13 of his 21 pitches for strikes and didn't walk a batter. After a shaky spring, Sawamura needs to regain manager Alex Cora trust's to earn high-leverage opportunities, but this was a positive start. For now, fantasy managers in most leagues can avoid Sawamura, but he's worth watching if he continues to pitch well as a setup man in Boston's bullpen.
