Hip Injury Sends Gleyber Torres To DL
6 years agoAfter being removed from Wednesday’s game following just four innings, the New York Yankees placed their star rookie Gleyber Torres on the 10-day disabled list with a right hip strain. The move was made after a mysterious couple of days that kicked off with Torres being given Tuesday off after manager Aaron Boone mentioned nagging hip discomfort. While he said the day off was more precautionary than anything else, Wednesday’s premature exit was a sign of things to come. Torres would go for an MRI and the move was made as a result. While there are definitely reasons to be worried, the Yankees were likely to take as much precaution with the 21-year-old as possible, so perhaps he will not miss more than the 10 days. With Torres out, Brandon Drury and Neil Walker are likely to split playing time at the keystone. Torres needs to remain stashed in all leagues.
