Hector Neris Suspended Four Games
2 years agoHouston Astros relief pitcher Hector Neris was given a four-game suspension from Major League Baseball on Tuesday for throwing near the head of Seattle Mariners third baseman Eugenio Suarez after warnings had been issued on Monday night. Neris will appeal his four-game ban, so he'll be available out of the bullpen for Houston on Tuesday. The 32-year-old has been very effective this year as a setup man for closer Ryan Pressly, allowing only eight earned runs on 14 hits while walking five and striking out 27 in 24 innings over a league-high 26 appearances. The former Phillies closer is sporting a 3.00 ERA, a 0.79 WHIP and a 29.4% strikeout rate.
