After the Philadelphia Phillies failed to pounce on a bases-loaded situation in the ninth inning of Saturday’s game against the Washington Nationals, closer Hector Neris entered to ensure the victory. Since allowing three earned runs in his first outing of the season, the 28-year-old has only allowed one run and carried a streak of seven consecutive scoreless appearances entering the game. Holding a two-run lead, Neris walked the leadoff man, but then drew a double play. After walking a second batter, he struck out the fourth and final batter he faced, picking up his sixth save of the season.--RDelgado
