Hector Neris Primed For Leap In 2018
7 years agoOne poor outing from Philadelphia Phillies closer Hector Neris caused his numbers to balloon, failing to tell the story of his Spring Training. Outside of one bad performance against the Tampa Bay Rays earlier this month, Neris tossed 7 2/3 innings, allowing just one run on nine hits while striking out six. Neris is coming off a 2017 season that saw vast improvement following the All-Star break, as he converted all of his saves and posted a 2.48 ERA. Looking forward, Neris is confident in his bullpen, stating his staff could be the “best in baseball." Considering the way his season ended, Neris is in prime position to experience a career season beginning Thursday.
