Hector Neris Locks Up Tight Save
7 years agoAfter second baseman Cesar Hernandez and outfielder Odubel Herrera teamed up to give the Philadelphia Phillies a one-run lead in the bottom of the eighth inning, manager Gabe Kapler handed the ball to his closer, Hector Neris. The 28-year-old has once again started his season with struggles just like he did last year, as he carried a 5.40 ERA into Friday night’s game. With the slimmest of leads, Neris recorded the first out before surrendering a dangerous double that put the winning run in scoring position. After that, however, Neris induced a pop up and fly out, shutting the door on the Pirates and earning his third save of the season.
