Hansel Robles Strikes Out Two, Shows Increased Velocity
4 years agoMinnesota Twins relief pitcher Hansel Robles looked impressive in his first appearance of the 2021 season. Robles operated as the set-up man in Thursday's loss to the Brewers, pitching a scoreless eighth inning with no walks or hits allowed while striking out two batters. The 30-year-old showed increased velocity on his fastball, going from 95.4 MPH average from last year to 96.8 MPH on Thursday, nearly identical to the juice he had on his heater during his excellent 2019 campaign. Robles likely went undrafted in many leagues, though he's someone to monitor on the waiver wire, as he may garner some save opportunities for the Twins in 2021.
