7 years agoDetroit Red Wings forward Gustav Nyquist scored a goal on Monday night against Montreal, giving him 20 on the season. This is the third time that Nyquist has eclipsed 20 goals in his seven-year career, but he has failed to reach that mark in either of the last two seasons. Early in his career, Nyquist was seen as potentially a perennial 30-goal scorer, but his production has dropped since then, and he is on pace for his lowest full-season point total of his career. While it is encouraging to see Nyquist start to return to his prior scoring form, his shooting percentage this year (10.1 percent) was still below his career average (11.5 percent). When you consider this along with his low assist total (16), Nyquist has limited fantasy value, even after reaching 20 goals.--Russ Ivanac - RotoBaller

5 months agoNashville Predators right wing Gustav Nyquist tallied an assist and a shorthanded goal in their victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday evening. Nyquist tallied the primary assist on Filip Forsberg's goal in the second frame which got Nashville on the board. Later in the frame, Nyquist would tie the game with a shorthanded goal off a wrist shot from the slot. The 35-year-old is now carrying a three-game point streak after being held off the scoresheet during the first four games of the season. Nyquist should continue to find scoring opportunities and should remain a solid point producer playing on the top line alongside Filip Forsberg and Ryan O'Reilly.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

1 year agoNashville Predators left wing Gustav Nyquist kept his recent good form going with a two-assist effort in Monday's 4-3 victory over Colorado. He helped Jeremy Lauzon get his first goal of the campaign and also tallied an assist when Filip Forsberg struck a late game-tying goal. The Predators made it 3-3 with just 38 left to play in regulation but also found a game-winning goal as Yakov Trenin lit the lamp 16 seconds later. Nyquist started life in the Music City in pretty poor form, but he has built up momentum recently with a five-game point streak, which consists of one goal and six assists. The run has doubled Nyquist's points tally for the season.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

2 years agoMinnesota Wild winger Gustav Nyquist continued his good start with the team with a two-assist effort in Wednesday's 7-3 loss to Dallas. Playing in only his fifth game for the Wild, Nyquist helped Oscar Sundqvist and Frederick Gaudreau to score. The Swedish winger now has one goal and seven assists in Minnesota colors. He's been a great addition to the Wild attack, and Nyquist's contributions could become vital in the playoffs after Ryan Hartman (lower body) dropped out of the lineup for Game 2.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

2 years agoMinnesota Wild winger Gustav Nyquist finally made his team debut Saturday against St. Louis, and it was a good one. Lining up on the third line, Nyquist played for only 11:50, but he made a big impact in a 5-3 victory with two assists. Both of his helpers came inside a few minutes in the second period, as Frederick Gaudreau scored a power-play goal and Jared Spurgeon logged the eventual game-winner. Nyquist was brought in from Columbus in February, but he arrived in Saint Paul with an upper-body injury. The team will be relieved to see him getting back healthy for the playoffs. He will have three more regular-season games to get himself back up to speed. Including his time in Ohio, Nyquist has posted 10 goals and 24 points in 49 appearances this season.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
