Franchy Cordero Lands On DL To Start Season
7 years agoAccording to MLB.com beat writer AJ Cassavell, San Diego Padres outfielder Franchy Cordero will begin the season on the DL. He continues to recover from a nagging groin injury that has kept him from running at full speed over the last week and a half. Cordero looked to be a favorite to land a spot on the Padres Opening Day roster before the injury, hitting .343 with a .465 OBP and .714 SLG this spring. With Cordero starting the year on the DL, Hunter Renfroe seems to now be locked in as the fourth outfielder, and manager Andy Green has stated he might keep one of Matt Szczur or Travis Jankowski as a backup center fielder. Szczur and Jankowski likely will not have any impact in fantasy this year, but Renfroe's power makes him an interesting late-round flier in most leagues.
