Griff McGarry Strikes Out Eight In Season Debut
1 week agoPhiladelphia Phillies pitching prospect Griff McGarry tossed four shutout innings in his season debut on Sunday. McGarry did not allow a hit or a walk and struck out eight batters. This was an impressive debut for McGarry, who battled numerous injuries last summer. In 2024, McGarry was only able to log 31 2/3 innings of work. He spent most of his time with Triple-A Lehigh Valley, where he held a 4.70 ERA with a 1.92 WHIP across 30 2/3 innings. However, the Phillies opted for McGarry to begin the 2025 campaign with Double-A. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progress with Reading as he should contend for an early promotion to Triple-A. The former fifth-round pick is considered the No. 30 prospect in the system on MLB.com. If he can carry this success into Triple-A, he could push for a second-half MLB debut.
