Gregory Soto Has Been Lights Out Lately
3 years agoDetroit Tigers relief pitcher Gregory Soto has been excellent as of late. The hard-throwing left-hander has allowed just six walks, four hits, and an earned run in his last 17 innings while striking out 20. The only earned run came on a home run. If you're doing the math at home, that's a minuscule 0.53 ERA. Soto also logged two saves and five holds during that stretch. Tigers manager A.J. Hinch has utilized matchups late in games, turning to Soto, Michael Fulmer, or Jose Cisnero in the ninth depending on the other team's lineup. With Fulmer, who is currently on the injured list, and Cisnero both being potential trade candidates this month, the 26-year-old might be someone to stash for save opportunities in the second half.
