Gregory Soto Earns His Second Save On Thursday
3 years agoDetroit Tigers relief pitcher Gregory Soto closed out the team's 4-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Thursday to earn his second save of the year. He pitched a scoreless ninth inning, allowing no hits and one walk while striking out one. Soto has converted each of his two save opportunities thus far. No other Tigers reliever has earned a ninth inning save opportunity. Soto allowed a home run in his first outing of the year, but he's pitched three scoreless innings in his three outings since then. He appears to be the clear closer for an improved Tigers team. Expect for him to coast past his saves total from last year (18) if he's able to stay healthy and effective.
