Gregory Soto Converts Two-Inning Save On Wednesday
3 years agoDetroit Tigers relief pitcher Gregory Soto converted a two-inning save opportunity in the team's 5-3 win over the Texas Rangers on Wednesday. Soto pitched a pair of scoreless innings, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out three. The save was his seventh of the year. He now has a 2.78 ERA and 1.32 WHIP over 35.2 innings on the season. This was the first save he'd recorded since June 15. Jose Cisnero had been called upon for each of the team's previous two saves. Cisnero should still be considered the primary closer for the team, but Soto is very clearly the next man up.
