Gregory Santos Blows Save With Balk Tuesday
1 year agoChicago White Sox relief pitcher Gregory Santos blew his fourth save of the season in Tuesday's 7-6 loss to the Royals. Santos entered the game to pitch the bottom of the ninth up by one. The leadoff hitter reached on a throwing error. He then allowed a single, got the first out at second on a groundout, allowed a game-tying RBI double, got the second out on a lineout, intentionally walked the bases loaded, and balked in the winning run. The 24-year-old has now converted half of his save opportunities this season with a 3.18 ERA and a 9.10 K/9 rate. While he has pitched well overall and may see whatever save opportunities the White Sox get, the low volume limits his fantasy value, even in deeper roto leagues.
