Greg Holland Unable To Close Out Saturday's Game
3 years agoKansas City Royals relief pitcher Greg Holland received yet another save opportunity on Saturday against the Detroit Tigers, but he was unable to convert it. He entered the game in the ninth inning while the team was winning 9-6. He pitched 2/3 of an inning and allowed two hits, two walks and two earned runs before being pulled. Wade Davis came in to record the final out and earn the save. Holland earned saves in two of the team's previous three games before Saturday, but he's been shaky overall on the mound this month. He's now allowed eight earned runs over 8.1 innings in July. Holland should still be considered the favorite for saves in Kansas City for now, but Scott Barlow is very much in the picture and Davis might be now as well.
